The Curtain is Torn in Two!

And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

(Mark 15:37-38 ESV)

When Jesus died there was great significance that no one, not even the disciples understood.  The curtain had been torn in two from top to bottom. It is as if the hand of God Almighty from heaven tore the curtain for us. The significance is that the holy of holies was no longer separated by this curtain. All the many years before that there had been continual sacrifices in the temple, the Day of Atonement was the only day once a year that the high priest could enter the holy of holies. Now that God has torn that curtain we have access to the Father through his son Jesus!

We can now boldly go before the throne of grace because of Jesus! We no longer need an intercessor of a high priest or anyone else because our only intercessor is Jesus himself! How does this truth give you great praise and honor to Jesus for providing us the way to have communion with God? Who will you tell today about the mercy and grace of God in Jesus Christ?
