Confessing Sin

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
  whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

(Psalm 32:1-2 ESV)

The blessing of forgiveness of God is of the most prized possessions we can ever have! God in his forgiveness covers our sin. I am reminded of Adam and Eve and the very first sin. They took from the tree that God told them not to take from. They then hid from him. When God found them Adam tried to cover up his own sins with lies and blame. He even blamed God because it was "this woman you gave me"!

Isn't that our tendency as well? We don't like to take responsibility for our sins. It make us feel so much better if we can blame someone else for our mistakes which are really sins. We even try to re-define our sin so we don't feel as responsible. You know like little white lies, or thinking I'm just human. When we do this we are being just like Adam and lying about our actions and placing blame on anyone but ourselves.

But when we do this we don't receive the forgiveness from God. When we do not receive this forgiveness we are not blessed. God will not cover our sins in forgiveness if we are determined to hold on to them. If we come clean- for real- and be honest and not have a spirit of deceit we will be blessed and forgiven by God.

Are there sins you are refusing to confess and forsake before God? Are you choosing to hold on to those sins with lies and deceit like Adam? Will you be honest with yourself and with God and admit your sin, take responsibility for them and be blessed with the complete forgiveness God has for you? In 1 John 1:9 we are promised that if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Will you be covered and cleansed by Jesus today? Be blessed!
