God called the dry
land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God
saw that it was good.
(Genesis 1:10 ESV)
When we look at scripture it can be extremely helpful to
look at repeated words and phrases. There is so much in the first chapter in
Genesis and it can really help us focus in on the main point of the passage.
One of those repeated phrases is- God saw that it was good. God saw that it was
good after creating the dry ground and the sea. He saw that it was good when he
created vegetation after its own kind. After God created the sea and land
creatures, God saw that it was good. God made the animals and livestock and he
saw that it was good. But after he made man in his image he not only saw that
it was good, but saw that it was very good. God looked over each step of his
creation and noted the goodness of what he had done.
God’s work is always good. Even when difficulty comes our
way we can always know that God works everything for our good.
And we know that for
those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called
according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 ESV)
God works all things for good because he is good. Because
God is good he cannot subject his character to evil. All Gods ways are for our
good. There is no evil intent in him. We can rest in this assurance that His
work is always good! As creator he made everything good. Sin, our sin gets in
the way of his goodness and shows us why Jesus death for our payment was so
necessary. God created everything good. How does this truth give you hope in
the trials you face today?
