By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given
us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son
to be the Savior of the world.
(1 John 4:13-14 ESV)
God has given us his Holy Spirit so that we can have
assurance of his life in us. The Holy Spirit lives in us when we come to Christ
through faith in him alone for our salvation. This is a forever deal. God does
not take back his Holy Spirit from us. We can quench the Holy Spirit with our
sin, but God’s Spirit will never leave us. God through his Spirit gives us
complete assurance of our salvation.
If you are a Christian you have come to know Jesus is your
savior. You know that God worked a miracle in your life and saved you from the
wrath of God that you deserved. You know
this to be a fact even though you have not seen him with your own eyes the way
the disciples did. And you can now testify to others the reality of God in your
life.
Love comes from God. And we must have a correct
understanding of who God is so that we can truly experience the one true God.
We have to know and understand what Jesus did for us. We must truly be born
again to have God and his love in our lives.
How do you make the Bible and correct understanding a
priority in your life? Do you check the Bible when you are taught by others so
that you can confirm that you are learning truth? Love and doctrine go hand in
hand. We cannot know love if we don’t know God, and we can’t know God if we
don’t know love.
