Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
(Isaiah 40:28 ESV)
God has always existed. God will always exist. God created the ends of the earth. And God does not grow weary. God does not get tired of his work. God does not sleep. We don't tire him out either with our needs, our wants, or our pleas to him. God's strength is unending because God is unending. God not only has this strength in himself but he shares it with his children. Let's look at the next two verses:
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:29-31 ESV)
If we wait on the Lord, he will renew our strength! Waiting does not mean that we sit around and do nothing. We should be looking to God with our needs, having hope in the future, and looking to his character and promises to bring us hope.
God understands more than we can ever comprehend. He knows your thoughts, your feelings and your trials. He should be who we look to for comfort, direction and hope. In what area of your life do you need God's strength? Will you wait on the Lord to renew your strength so you may soar like an eagle?
