Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
(Revelation 1:7-8 ESV)
The promise of Jesus return will be fulfilled. God is trustworthy, and his word is true. We can take this promise to the bank and cash it. He will return in the clouds just as he promised. His coming will remind us of his proclamation that he is indeed the Alpha and the Omega. He was, he is, and he is to come.
God was in the beginning, in fact, he created time and thus the beginning. He always existed before he created, time, space, matter, the earth and all of creation. Because God has always existed we know that he is self-existent. He is complete in himself and has no need for anything beyond himself.
Jesus existed in time when he came to earth to live the perfect, sinless life we could not live. Who showed us how to live, and died so that we may be set free. He lives today sitting at the right hand of God. He lives today to intercede for his people in prayer to the father.
And Jesus is to come in the clouds, just as the verse above states. Because He is eternal, we can know that it will happen. He will always live and keep every promise he makes.
How does knowing we can take Jesus at his word and look forward to his 2nd coming give you hope today?
